Healthy food healthy people

Overall the Italian diet is very healthy and is beneficial due to its high quality and fresh fruits and vegetables. A balance of quality and quantity of ingredients is a major part of their diet and healthy eating habits. Traditionally foods such as tomatoes, leafy greens, olive oil, and whole grains take precedence in Italian cooking. Most of these ingredients have antioxidants and other vitamins your body needs to survive. Like the novel we are reading in class, Italian's also take pride in there food. Attention to detail is key, my great grandmother used to say “ never skimp on food” she lived through the great depression so there were times when food was scarce but she always tried to use the very best ingredients. My great grandmother only lived in the US for part of her life. She was never exposed to the American way of fast this fast that and unhealthy fast food. I think she wouldn't have been able to adapt the American way because of the way she was raised in Italy. Italians enjoy eating at a leisurely pace. Relaxing and socialize while dining is an intricate part of the culture. Their meals aren’t super-sized, they eat until they are full and generally have smaller portions. I wish that I would have been born and raised in Italy. American fast food is good to an extent but after awhile it gets old, and that goes with everything. The key is everything in moderation but Italian dishes are so exquisite and have so much variety. I could eat Italian every night and not complain.

  2. That's really cool Henry! From basicc stereotypes I simply assumed that Italians all eat gigantic amounts of pasta for dinner every night. I didn't know that meals were such an important part of the Italian culture.
