Jamaican Epicurean Escape

I chose Jamaica because I always wanted to go there as a child. I always saw it as a great vacation spot with all sorts of cultures colliding together to form all the unique things about Jamaica. I know that Jamaica was occupied by several sources and this greatly contributed to the diverse culture they have now. I hope to learn about the improvements they've made since then and how it's affected the taste of their food.

One of the main events in Jamaica is the Epicurean Escape. It is a family event to celebrate the various foods and cultures across Jamaica. The Epicurean Escape is held annually at Grizzly's Plantation Cove and usually lasts for 2 days. The event is positioned in a beautiful area next to the Carribean Sea and is easily accessible from all routes. Because of its close proximity to the Sea  a lot of food in Jamaica is seafood based. Their are several hotels in the area to accomodate tourists so they can share in this amazing event. Some of the most popular renditions of jamaican food served include jerk chicken, escoviche and jamaican patties. Jerk chicken is made my dry rubbing a mixture of spices into the chicken and then roasting it for several howers over pimento wood. Escoviche is local fish marinated in onions, spices and vinegar until it is ready to be cooked. The Jamaican patty is a type of pie that is filled with meat. The meat in a patty is usually a mixture of chicken and ground beef along with local spices to bring out the flavor.
