In my food blog today I am talking about the people in the Italian culture. People in Italy take the food very seriously because of the fact that it plays a main part in their culture. Its important to them to keep the tradition of true Italians alive!!!! A special holiday that is very important to the Italians is Ognissanti (All Saints Day) this is held on November 1st. It is a religious holiday that most Italians celebrate! A special feast day celebrated in Italy is the feast pf the tabernacles which is where Italian brethen return home! A dish that is popular with the Italians as a meal is most familiar to us as an appetizer--bruschetta!
Recipe for Bruschetta:
grilled bread rubbed with garlic and topped with tomatoes, olive oil, salt and pepper. Variations may include toppings of tomato, vegetables, beans, cured meat, or cheese, a popular dish is Bruschetta pomodoro; the most popular recipe outside of Italy involves basil, fresh tomato, garlic and onion or mozzarella. Bruschetta is usually served as a snack or appetizer. In some countries, a topping of chopped tomato, olive oil and herbs is marketed under the bruschetta name.

Very interesting to hear about All Saints Day. I have heard of this holiday numerous times in my family. Bruschetta is amazing and can be found on the table at every single one of my family gatherings. I really like how you described bruschetta and how it was served!
ReplyDeleteBruschetta is a really popular dish in my family! We love to eat it on warm summer nights. It's really interesting how Italy celebrates All Saints Day because we don't really celebrate it like they do!
