While Polish people eat a wide variety of foods, it comes
down to three main components in cooking; those components being potatoes,
vegetables, and meat. Besides potatoes, the most common used vegetables are cucumbers,
beets, and cabbage. Traditional meats include pork, chicken, and beef. Poland
is a country with a lot of farming area. Instead of shopping at grocery stores,
the Polish tend to go to their garden or a local fresh market. Potatoes are an
all around seasonal vegetable. Other vegetables are seasonal. Most of these
vegetables are cool season vegetables. With a large variety of farm animals,
the meat all comes from there. The
animals used for the meat are chicken, cows, or pigs. Other components of
Polish recipes include rye, wheat, and oats.
As you can see on the map, very little of Poland is forest or industrialized area. While the majority is rye, potatoes, livestock. Next to that is wheat, sugar beets, and livestock.
While there is not a limited number currently, it is said that the resources have increased in size rapidly since World War Two. However, Potato numbers have been declining in recent years. The decline is caused by an outbreak of a potato famine.
In the above picture, is a house in Poland. All the area surrounding it, is used for farming.
