Intro to Germany

The culture I chose to write about is German. I chose this culture because my grandma is German and the culture always interested me. One neat thing about the German culture is that every year they have a fest called Oktoberfest. This is a huge fest where all of Germany’s beers and great food are celebrated. I hope to learn more about the different things they celebrate and if they have specific saint days there. One interesting fact about German food, is that in every meal, a certain type of bread or sausage is served. Germans even have a special word for sausage, wurst, that includes every single kind. Depending on the season, they types of vegetables the Germans eat changes. It can range from mushrooms to broccoli depending when in the year it is. Another fact about German culture, is that they love to barbeque. Germany is located in west-central Europe and has the second largest population has the second largest population in the continent. It is surrounded by Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland. Germany used to be divided into more than 100 different states. It was a very ununited country but now Germany is completely united under one government. The fact that Germany is surrounded by nine different countries may have shaped the type of food that is present in Germany because they could have been influenced by so many different places. People from those other countries also could’ve came to Germany and brought their traditions with them.
