One of the biggest selling points of the South is the food it has to offer. There is a huge focus on southern hospitality. In the south, people show live to their families by cooking food. It is always a celebration and entails and good time. There are many cultures that are the roots of southern food. You get a lot of the food from the African Americans who where slaves in the south during the early ages of the United states. Another root of southern food is from the Europeon settlers who came to America. Travel was not very easy in the beginning times of the United states in the south. Because of this, southerners didn't have a wide variety of food to choose from. Because they didn't have a wide variety of food, the food they have, the would come up with as many ways to cook it and make it taste different so they didn't get old of the food so fast. This is why in the south, there are so many versions of pork and chicken. Because of the many cultures coming together, the south has a wide, rich tradition of food.
