Greece is a diverse culture and that is one of the reasons why I am interested in researching and learning more about Greece. I am also interested because I have always thought it was a beautiful country and wanted to visit it someday. Greece is know for a group of interesting items such as holding the first ever Olympics, beautiful beaches, and a variety of different foods. Their food is most famous for its good quality and fabulous taste. Greece has a breathe taking view everywhere you turn. The country is a peninsular and mountainous country. The coast that Greece lays on is about 13,676 km, which is the largest coast in Europe. Greece is has mountains that cover about two-thirds of Greece.  The capital of Greece is Athens, which was where the stage for the first ever Olympic games where held. Th history of Greece is crucial to understanding the food that they eat in Greece. The first settlement was in 11,000-3,000 BC. There were three groups that were part of the first civilizations: Minoans, the Mycenaeans, and the Cycladic. The most famous time that everyone in the world knows about is from the 6th-4th century. In the 1990s an influx of immigrants, refugees, and labor migrants entered from Eastern Europe, North Africa, Middle east, and the Philippines. The newcomers introduced a wide variety of new food that is now part of the usual Greek meal such as yogurt, rice, sweets made from nuts, honey and sesame seeds. The history and geography are a major player in shaping the food that are featured in Greece.
