The German diet mainly consists of sausages, potatoes, and
breads. Because of this there are to intense sides to the effects it has on
ones health. This diet consists of a lot of protein, which can be a good thing
because it promotes growth and healing. However there can be some negative side
effects. The overall diet of the Average German focuses on high fat, carb
loaded and refined sugar filled foods, which often lack fiber as well as fruits
and vegetables. This is not a good thing because it can lead to many heath
concerns. One big point that I found was the deterioration of the diet
throughout time. To me this interesting because it reflects the way the quality
of American food was decreasing. To me they are running into the same problem
we did, which is that food is getting easer to obtain so people find them
selves eating more and worse quality foods. Despite this I think there is hope
because looking at many Americans they are recognizing mistakes made and
working on changing overall accessibility to heather foods. Which is inspiring
people to live a better life style. For me this is relatable because along with
my family, I have been eating a more balanced diet than before. Just like in my
life and many others food and health play a big role in the lives on the
characters in the book. As we read it seems that a lot of the emotional heath
is tied to what people eat throughout the story and it’s interesting to see the
effects, because in a way it is almost realistic.
I found the comment about how the German diet has been deteriorating throughout time very interesting also. I think that it is sad that our food is getting worse for us the more that time is going on. I really enjoyed reading and learning about German foods. I learned a lot from your blog. I never knew that German food was high in fat, carb and sugar filled. I am glad that I found out the German food is unhealthy so now I can avoid those kinds of foods if I am trying to eat healthier.
